Philly creates heart inspired animal art, that honours their spirit and tells their story, while transforming a space with joy and happiness that lasts a lifetime.
Philly grew up in the Eastern Cape, South Africa on a farm that was both an Arabian horse stud and a dairy farm. Her granny Margaret was a wonderful watercolour artist, capturing the local landscapes of St Francis Bay and the Eastern Cape coastline; and when her granny realised Philly loved being creative, she encouraged Philly to draw and paint and experiment with different medium. Philly went on to do art as a final subject at high school finishing at the top of her class.
On finishing school and with an eagerness to travel and see the world, Philly went to work on Cruise Ships which turned into a seventeen-year career working in the Cruise Industry, giving her the opportunity to travel extensively, to live in Miami and the Cayman Islands and then ultimately brought her to live in Wivenhoe, with her husband Greg.
Philly’s artwork is inspired by her travel, where she was brought up, her love for nature and animals and her time studying art at school. Being kind to animals and considerate of our planet is central to everything she does.
Acrylic on canvas or mixed media board is Philly’s medium of choice, and while creating original artwork is her favourite past time, she has created a range of limited edition Giclee art prints and wonderful “planet friendly” greeting cards, products that makes her joyful artwork more accessible.
”I love colour, texture, movement, the way light constantly changes how we see things, how an environment or expression evokes a feeling, and my art gives me the opportunity to interpret what I see. My work is created with love, I want it to make you smile.” – Philly
